http://www.foxnews.com/science/2018/05/09/rat-attack-worlds-largest-rodent-cull-clears-predators-from-atlantic-island.htmlIn South Georgia Island in the South Atlantic the world's largest rodent cull has recently enradicited. The UK is currently now free of rodents since humans have arrived on these territories 200 years ago. The invasive animals devastated South Georgia's bird population and even threatening the endemic to the remote island. For this phase to happen they had helicopters drop poison bait on the islands. In which they finished the first phase in just 28 days. Then on the second phase they dropped about 157 metric tons of poison on the island once again. As of now, there has been no detection of any rodents. Every six months they have a highly trained sniffer dog go out and sniff for any rodents.

http://www.foxnews.com/science/2018/05/02/shoppers-shocked-as-koala-strolls-through-coles.htmlIn Australia shoppers were in shock when they saw a koala come in through a grocery store as it made itś way to the dairy section. As the koala was in the store many stopped to stare and tried taking pictures. The good thing is that many of the people who came across the koala were aware to give it a lot of space. Many people questioned how the koala came into the store, but they believe it sneaked in. After, ten minutes if being in the store the koala left and went itś way back.
http://www.foxnews.com/science/2018/05/07/raccoon-family-falls-through-michigan-mans-living-room-ceiling.htmlIn Sheridan Township,Michigan a family of raccoons fell through a living room ceiling. As, soon as this happened the home owner called for responders right away. At one point the mother raccoon bit a responders glove. In a video the mother raccoon was eventually apprehended with a dog catcher pole. Luckily, the baby raccoons were small enough to be picked up and placed into a plastic tub. The good thing is that no animals were harmed at all and they were released back into the wild.
http://www.foxnews.com/science/2018/05/05/exotic-fish-native-to-china-russia-found-in-virginia-reservoir.htmlA Northern Snakehead fish was found n the Virgina reservior. This fish is native from countries such as China, Korea, and Russia, but it was found at Lakeview reservoir in colonial heights. These fish were first discovered in the states nearly fifteen years ago. However, they can cause harm to the aquatic ecosystem such as messing with the impact of feeding, competing for food, and the naturalized process. The fish can't move across land they are simply brought by people. Those who bring the fish can be facing a year in prison or a fine of at least 2,500 dollar fine. However, if anglers catch the fish they may keep it, but it must be killed after and reported to the department.
http://www.foxnews.com/science/2018/03/22/great-pacific-garbage-patch-floating-island-trash-in-ocean-is-now-twice-size-texas.htmlThe Pacific Ocean is being treated like a giant dumpster that is now stretching about 600,000 square miles now according to scientific reports. It is now twice the size of Texas and it still is growing every single day. Many environmentalists have expressed concern regarding the growing issue. The Ocean Cleanup Foundation surveyed the vortex of trash that is pilling up between Hawaii and California. They found mounds of plastic glued together that measured yards. It is a ticking time bomb before the big plastics begin to melt and become micro-plastics if we don't act fast. It has nearly doubled growing to the size of at least 79,000 tons of plastic. Which has been reported that it has grown sixteen times higher than the last time it was reported. There has been scientific studies on it in which they gathered around 1.2 million samples of it. Where they also, took debris samples as well to determine what is in it to what examining the outcomes of it. Looking at historical data much has increased and continues to increase since this had begun. This is troubling for many, but especially marine life and human life in which we all need to take action to put an end to it and deposit our trash the correct way. To also, finding ways to clean up the patch of garbage. http://www.foxnews.com/science/2018/03/16/turtle-euthanized-as-row-continues-over-reports-it-ate-puppy.htmlIn Idaho there has been reports that a teacher brought in a snapping turtle then feed it a sick puppy. The Idaho State Department of Idaho requires a permit for people to have a snapping turtle. Recently, law enforcement has currently been enforced through the security at the three schools in the preston school district. Due to the treats people are sending to the teacher and school regarding the allegation. School was cancelled due to the issue, but will return on Monday. A letter was sent out regarding the issue in which two parents did state that a teacher did feed a turtle a sick puppy. On the other hand this was not part of a school program, but it happened after school was dismissed. There are other reports saying that the teacher feed the turtle the puppy as a meal when it was still alive, which caused an outrage. This is important because why would anyone do this which this isn't right at all hurting animals.
http://www.foxnews.com/science/2018/03/13/skunks-invade-small-new-mexico-town.htmlIn Hangerman, New Mexico there currently is a rise in skunks which is leading to a huge problem for many residents. People are finding them basically everywhere like in their backyards to the inside of their homes. Skunks are known to being nocturnal, but they are now being seen way more.Causing them to stink up homes and work offices where many tend to be at. This is becoming a very huge problem because many of them are everywhere and are now being seen in common places. The skunks can be harmful when it comes to pets due to them possible carrying rabies. It is a unusually time for the skunks to come out right now, but since the weather has been changing drastically they are coming out faster. So, far officers have tried putting out traps for the skunks, but no luck on catching any yet. This is important because animals should not come out until it is their time, but since the weather has affected them we need to be cautious that comes with wildlife coming as well.
http://www.foxnews.com/tech/2018/03/02/remarkable-video-shows-tiger-and-bear-locked-in-ferocious-fight.htmlRecently a tiger and a bear were caught on camera fighting. The video was recorded at Tadoba National Park in the Indian state of Maharashtra on Wednesday. During the fight the tiger pins the bear down to the ground as, the clamping it's jaw around the bear's neck. It seems like the tiger is winning and has the upper power until the bear flips the tiger around. Then charges after him raising on itś back legs. Akshay Kumar, chief naturalist at Bamboo Forest Safari Lodge, states that the tiger is 7-year-old Matkasur, a dominant male in the park. Matkasur had marked the body of water seen in the video as his territory, so he reacted aggressively to the arrival of the female sloth bear and her cub. The bear is seen protecting the baby cub, but in the video the cub is nowhere to be seen. Unfortunately the bear and tiger faced injury, but remain fine still.
http://www.bbc.com/news/av/world-africa-43279297/baby-chimp-rescued-from-poachers-in-africaA team from Lwiro Primates with pilot Anthony Caere rescued three year old Mussa from a village known as Beni in North Kivu. They found out about Mussa from the "WhatsApp" unaware if she was just a pet or was going to be sold. They learned that she was living in a mans home and lived with other protected reptiles. They believe Mussa's mother was killed due to poachers that kill the adult chimps for meat and sell the babies as a pet. It's illegal to sell chimps, but those who want one will pay thousands of dollars just for one. Now the chimp lives in a new home at a small village located in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
https://www.cnn.com/2018/03/02/health/penguins-antarctica-massive-colony-trnd/index.htmlNumbering over 1.5 million birds the penguins were the first spotted in great patches on their poo from photos that taken from space. They were spotted crowded on Dangers Island which was one very huge surprise because the island is really hard to find and they weren't really looking for the island. Scientists used an algorithm to search images of possible penguin activity with American Landsat spacecraft. The Landsat never really comes back with high resolution pictures, but once the penguins were flagged the images came back in high resolution. Dr. Lynch from Stony Brook University in New York was beyond shocked knowing this was one of the largest Adelie penguin colonies in the world. The down fall to this was that the island is difficult to reach in order to get there and remain there. Once again software was called to take action and take pictures. This time they were able to indicate that about 751, 527 penguins live on this island which they are the third and fourth largest colonies in the world. Scientist noticed that there was a huge decline of penguins which can be from climate change resulting in sea ice that plays a huge role in their ecosystem. This is important because new technology helps scientists and others to be aware of what issues are going on that we can't get to so we can find ways to beaware and study the issues surrounding it.
