It is now twice the size of Texas and it still is growing every single day. Many environmentalists have expressed concern regarding the growing issue. The Ocean Cleanup Foundation surveyed the vortex of trash that is pilling up between Hawaii and California. They found mounds of plastic glued together that measured yards. It is a ticking time bomb before the big plastics begin to melt and become micro-plastics if we don't act fast. It has nearly doubled growing to the size of at least 79,000 tons of plastic. Which has been reported that it has grown sixteen times higher than the last time it was reported. There has been scientific studies on it in which they gathered around 1.2 million samples of it. Where they also, took debris samples as well to determine what is in it to what examining the outcomes of it. Looking at historical data much has increased and continues to increase since this had begun. This is troubling for many, but especially marine life and human life in which we all need to take action to put an end to it and deposit our trash the correct way. To also, finding ways to clean up the patch of garbage.
